JEAN BAPTISTE STAHL (German 1869-1932) A VILLEROY & BOCH PÂTE-SUR-PÂTE GREEN PHANOLITH PORCELAIN PEDESTAL, METTLACH, CIRCA 1899, pâte-sur-pâte on a green ground, in the transitional Nouveau and Neoclassical taste, the dished circular top over an Egyptian stylized petal capital over a tapered column banded with tied laurel wreaths over a segment of "proto-Wiener Werkstätte" arched curtain motif pattern, just above a figural processional of Muses with instruments and a seated Orpheus with lyre, looking just beyond a tree, signed in relief in pâte-sur-pâte, J. Stahl, the base with impressed marks. Height: 15" Diameter: 9" Provenance: Lacy and Helen Koonce, Sugar Land, Texas
Condition
