A GROUP OF TWO KOTA BRASS AND COPPER COVERED WOOD RELIQUARY FIGURES, GABON, LATE 20TH CENTURY, comprising one with an arched blade form headdress enclosing paired repoussé rectangles flanking a raised circular disc with cross form double incised lines on a diagonal crossed lines ground, on an oval concave head centering domed eyes and a pointed triangular nose within a cross form reserve and cornered by diagonal laid brass strips, flanked by conforming graduated flanges and raised on a short dotted torso on tapering arched wood legs, height: 26", width: 11 1/2", depth: 2"; together with another figure topped by an arched blade form headdress centering a conforming diagonal crossed lines panel flanked by blank panels, mounted on an oval concave head with broad forehead enclosing a vertical copper band of raised crossed lines within side diagonal incised line panels, over a "T" form reserve of domed eyes within arched dot details above a triangular pointed nose and ring form mouth of stamped dots, within cheeks of horizontal laid copper strips and side crossed lines alternating blank detailed flanges suspending short cylindrical copper pendants, mounted on a short circular reeded torso on natural wood open diagonal legs, height: 19", width: 8 1/2", depth: 2".
