Central Asia, Tibet / Nepal, ca. early to mid-20th century CE; China, Miao culture, ca. mid-20th century CE. A beautiful collection of 4 necklaces made of nickel-brass, bovine bone, coral, turquoise, glass, agate, and other stones. The first is comprised of a stylized lion pendant with articulated ears made of nickel-brass. The cotton thread strand is strung with beads of bones dyed red, sparkling goldstone, turquoise, enamel dzi beads, and nickel-brass longevity symbols. The next is a nickel-brass medallion with turquoise inlaid around a hemispherical serpentine stone. The double strands of threads are strung with the above-mentioned materials, and additional greenstone and glass beads. Third is a dragon medallion with a double strand of thread and chain strung with beads including coral within an ovoid bezel. The last is entirely nickel-brass with filigree bosses and twisted findings that suspend a floral pendent and dangling peach charms. All are wearable! Size of largest necklace doubled: 19" L (48.3 cm); flower basket pendant: 3" L x 2" W (7.6 cm x 5.1 cm)

The necklace with the medallion boss has a loose strand thread which can be reattached / replaced easily to reconnect to the pendant. The turquoise on this pendant has been reglued into the bezels, with visible adhesive residue. Nicks and chips to beads commensurate with age and use. Indentations and bending to silver pendants. Nice toning to nickel-brass, and all are wearable.
