Provenance: According to family tradition, Successful Brewery owner and Philanthropist, Cecil Norman Colburne Higgins (1856-1911) and his friend and fellow collector Henry Austin Lakin (1869-1963) purchased in partnership a collection of European and Asian porcelain. Because Higgins liked European porcelain and Lakin preferred Chinese porcelain, the collection was divided accordingly. The pieces which Higgins retained became part of his museum in Bedford, England, The Cecil Higgins Museum, opened in 1949 at the former Higgins home. (Higgins bequeathed a trust to be used for the museum purposes, especially for acquiring works of art. The museum is known today as the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery. Harry A. Lakin’s collection of Chinese porcelain descended through his family as follows:
To his wife, Kathleen Edith Lakin (1912-1985)
To her son Frederick George Minney (1911-1992)
To his son, Graham Minney (resides England/Hong Kong)
This lot was purchased by the present owner when a portion of the collection was consigned by Graham Minney to Rowley's auction house in Cambridgeshire Nov 27, 2018.

Condition: Some light abrasions and scratches commensurate with age.
