Hopi Pottery Bowl AND Large Ashtray
second quarter 20th century
lot of 2, includes:
pottery jar of squat form and with traditional designs
height 5-3/4 inches x diameter 10 inches
ashtray with signs of utilitarian wear
height 2-1/4 inches x diameter 11 inches
Collected by Paul Cowles (1945-2020), Rush, New York.
Cowles was a lifetime collector of First Nations Art and Artifacts, as well as fine firearms and other militaria and Americana. As a US Army Veteran serving in SE Asia in the early and mid-1960's many of his collecting interests revolved around the US military and sporting arms.
