Condition Note: Page has been affixed on the upper edge to a protective backing paper, lower right corner dog-ear fold, centerfold, and some paper wave/ wrinkle. Measurements: Main Image 21 x 14 inches. Protected under mylar wrap on an 18 x 24 in foam core board.NOTE: Thomas Nast was a German-born American caricaturist and editorial cartoonist often considered to be the Father of the American Cartoon. April 4, 1865On April 4, 1865, two days after Confederate forces evacuated Richmond, President Abraham Lincoln and his son Tad visited the still-smoldering ruins of the South's former Capital. As they stepped ashore, they were instantly recognized by the former slaves, who greeted them ecstatically.
