A cup-hilted swordWith narrow blade of triangular section showing its ridge to the outer face almost towards the tip and smooth ricasso of rounded section; cast brass, pierced cup-hilt with lobed border; cross- and knuckle-guard also of brass with stylized “knots” and rounded, broadening finials; oval pommel with the bust of a knight wearing armour in bas-relief, within ribbed sides, moulded base and top button; wooden grip with brass, plaited wire sleeve, fitted with upper and lower bands; the scabbard, wanting.An interesting sword, in the style of the early 17th century as used by Spanish noblemen, wearing historical robes on solemn occasions, in the early 19th century; excellent condition.Full length 106,50 cm.; the blade only 85,5 cm.
