Description
A Mauser 1871 Jagerbuchse rifle made in 1875 by the Austrian Arms Factory (Oesterr.Waffb.Ges) and chambered in 11.15x60mmR (aka .43 Mauser). These rifles were issued to the German Jager, a group of elite German infantry skilled in reconnaissance and skirmishing. The Jagerbuchse rifles would see continuous use until the end of WWI. Rifle has had receiver blued and stock sanded and refinished. Rifle has nearly all matching numbers with the exception of the bolt body being numbered "8816H". Metal finish is in overall good condition with some minor surface rust on the butt plate along with some finish wear and scratches present throughout. Rear sight ladder is blued with only range markings present are 1150 and 1250. Wood stock has very faint cartouche on right and bottom side. Bore is clean with some shine and worn but visible rifling as well as some minor pitting throughout. A fair example of an uncommon early German specialist rifle. See photos. Antique firearm.
