Description
A rare copy of The Beatles' Abbey Road, signed by John Lennon
The Beatle's eleventh studio album Abbey Road (Apple SO-383, ca. 1975), signed by John Lennon (1940-80) on front cover, during Philadelphia radio station WFIL's Helping Hand Radio Marathon, ca. May 16 to May 18, 1975. Very lightly worn.
The former Beatle was invited to Philadelphia to participate in WFIL's marathon by radio DJ Larry Kane, whom John had met 10 years earlier during the band's first tour in the United States. He stayed in Philadelphia for three days, from May 16 to May 18, 1975, and recorded three hours of content with on-air host "Banana Joe" Montione to help raise money for various charities in the Philadelphia area. Lennon often interacted with fans outside the studio, signing albums such as this one for the consignor, while also memorably auctioning off his socks. Before his departure back to New York, he made an impromptu stop at KYW News Studio to read the weather report. Lot includes signed authentication from PAAS.
