A Pair of Chinese Red Lacquered and Gilt Arm Chairs

Qing dynasty (1644-1912), late 19th or early 20th century, red lacquer framed chairs, square back panel with gilt ground beneath a raised red lacquer archaistic scroll pattern, the center back of the chair has a circular leather medallion hand painted with floral blooms, the same archaic scroll pattern continues on the side rails in openwork format together with circular longevity symbols, elaborate gilt carved wooden figural scenes are inset as the apron on all four sides, raised on four thick square legs with ruyi head feet.
