Description
(Disneyland, 1962) An original acetate master recording of the soundtrack for the Enchanted Tiki Room. The lacquer-over-aluminum record retains Walt Disney Productions center label blanks on the front and back, both dated by hand in ink "5-31-62," about a year before the attraction opened. Side A is marked, "Tiki House Program Birds Prod. 81-036-06-71 Disc B9667A" and Side B, "Tiki Room Program Chant-Drums Prod. 81-036-06-71 Disc B9667B." The first side contains the musical portion of the Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing. Many legendary Disney personalities contributed birdsong to the attraction's soundtrack, including Purv Pullen, Clarence Nash, Maurice Marcelino, and Marion Darlington. The second side features Ernest Tavares and others performing the Hawaiian War Chant. Cut to play at 33rpm with a 78 needle, the master disc is in very good condition with a few light scratches and scuffs. The original paper sleeve is included, which retains production notation ink, and exhibits some tears and crumbling to the edges. This incredibly rare direct-to-disc recording represents an incredible opportunity to own a significant artifact from the development of Walt Disney's first animatronic amusement.
