Native American, Southwestern United States, likely Hopi, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A gorgeous sterling silver, turquoise, and coral kachina bolo tie with a leather cord. The bolo is wearable with a braided leather cord, and conical 91.5% silver finials at the tips. The large kachina (katsina) figure is 95.44% silver and represents a spiritual deity. The kachina is soldered to the clasp with a flat back that is stamped with "STERLING." The kachina is hand-worked with fine details and legs protruding from a skirt detailed with etched geometric motifs around a turquoise stone. The Kachina's chest is bare save for the ovoid coral, and the figure holds rattles in his hands. Atop the rectangular head are 3 turquoise stones, and to his sides are curved feathers above coral. The turquoise and coral are set within saw-tooth bezels, adding a nice pop of color to the silver. The clasp allows this bolo to be adjusted to any size.
