American. 1930s. Lithographed tin. Mechanically functioning but very sluggish. Includes marquee for a different version of this toy. Marked, "Louis Marx & Co., 200 5th Ave. N.Y. U.S.A." back. 9 x 9 1/2 x 5 1/2". Exhibits light wear and scattered minor paint loss primarily along the edges. Two areas of paint loss and resulting oxidation evident above the piano keyboard and on the sheet music. Some wear and surface rust evident on drummer's hands. Light surface scratches on the sides and back. Box lid has been reattached. CODE:TOY Bryan Beatty collection.
