Description
A Superb ancient Thogchag amulet depicting the Vajrapani, Tibet, 200BC-800AD. Thog Chag: Meteoric iron(Tibetan:“ཐོག་ལྕགས་”) or sky-iron(Tibetan:“གནམ་ལྕགས་") is the supreme substance for forging the physical representation of the Vajra or other iron weapons, since it has already been tempered by the celestial gods in its passage across the heavens. Thogchags that represent Buddhist deities and objects date back to 8th Century AD or later but other Thogchags that depict non Buddhist deities or objects can date back to before 8th Century AD and as far back as 2000 BC, from the ancient Bön tradition of Tibet and some also from the middle east. With signs of wear. 55mm x 44mm.
