Description
DESCRIPTION: Victorian, possibly rosewood, Rococo Revival settee. Civil War era. An elegant example of the double chair form consisting of two medallion back sides with a carved fretwork in between joined to an overstuffed frame resting on scroll feet. While not by John Henry Belter, it is certainly of the quality to have been produced by one of his contemporaries and rivals. A lovely example of circa 1860 hand carving. MEASUREMENTS: 65-1/2" wide x 28" deep x 43" high. CONDITION: Wear to finish, particularly to carving below seat. Old repairs and losses to fretwork. Repair and looseness to arm joints. IMPORTANT: Before bidding, please read the terms and conditions. When you registered for the auction you agreed to these terms and will be required to comply with them.
