Description
This is a handsome Revolutionary War era map of the Great Lakes and extending to the southern tip of James Bay and from today's Minnesota to New Jersey. Several small islands appear in Lake Superior, including the real Isle Royale and several fictitious ones, including Isle Phelipeaux. The intricate network of waterways in the region is captured in great detail, as are mountains, forts, and Indian tribes including the seldom seen Twightwies. A note reading Bounds of the Hudsons Bay Company identifies the southern boundary of the company's terrain. It was published in W Russell's The History of America.
