Description
Pair of Thimbledrone Race Cars - Offered Without ReserveIn 1947, Roy Cox developed the original Thimbledrome Racers. His first models were utilized as "whip cars" attached to a tether and manually powered on race tracks. Later versions were fitted with small engines from Cameron Brothers and later engines designed by Cox. Produced from cast aluminum, this car is finished in its factory black with gold #19 numbers on the rear and hand-painted leather hood hold-down straps. The car has 90% paint and the tires look almost new. It retains it original clutch lever and pressure pump. The second is a limited edition reproduction of the original produced by Nylint. It is painted yellow with red #19 on the rear and hand-painted hood hold-down straps. This car is fitted with a replica engine in the cockpit, chrome clutch lever, pressure pump, front grille and exhaust pipe with tires nearly identical to the originals. This edition also comes with a tandem axle trailer cast in aluminum with fold-up ramps. Cars are 9.5" L x 5" W x 4" H, trailer 16" L (ramps up) x 7.5" W x 2.5" H. Lot of 3.
