Description
Two Indianapolis 500 Winning Race Cars Wooden Models - Offered Without ReserveThis lot consists of two hand-carved models of Indianapilis 500 winning racers. Finished in bright yellow with red flames is the #98 Kuzma-Offenhauser car driven to victory in 1952 by Troy Ruttman. It is an accurate representation of this sleek race car recreated in balsa wood. It has a clear plastic windscreen, wire-formed rear bumper plus roll bar, real rubber tires, and black vinyl for the seat. Signed by noted artist Bob Crane (not to be confused with the actor of the same name). 17" x 7" x 5". The second car is also hand-carved balsa wood making an accurate depiction of the 1953 Indy 500 winner, the Kurtis-Offenhauser car driven by Bill Vukovich. Finished in battleship gray with the #14 in red circles, this car is all wood with the exception of the grille bars, starter tube, exhaust pipe and seatbelt and features Detailz suspension parts, handcrafted Firestone tires on red wheels. A label on the bottom is believed to be from the artist, Larry C. Meeks from Chrisman, IL. 18" x 7" x 5". Lot of 2.
