Chinese Peachbloom String Vase with light coloration inside the trumpet neck, the clear glazed base with fine 6 character horizontal Kangxi Mark in underglaze blue. Approximate height 7 1/2 inches (19 cm.). PROVENANCE: From a private South Carolina collection. NOTE: Compare the accurate proportions in this vase to those in the Peachbloom Vase sold at Christie's, New York, "Collected in America: Chinese Ceramics from the Metropolitan Museum of Art," 14 September 2016, Lot 916. Although titled a "Three-String" Peachbloom Vase in the Auction Catalogue, their image also presents a 2 string vase and very similar calligraphy on the base. Christie's notes for their lot remind us this shape, usually known in the West as "sanxuan zun," is called "laifu zun" by Chinese Scholars.

The soft bubble-suffused glaze is in some areas a warm gray pink that appears slightly opaque, such as above the unglazed foot ring and around the inside top of the neck; the mouth appears to be slightly ground and polished.
