Frame dimensions 30 3/8 x 20 3/8 in.
Virginia Ochs was born in New York City. She moved to Annapolis in 1945 and began studying painting in 1955 with the Maryland artists Donald Coale, James Gilbert and Grace Hartigan. She exhibited widely throughout her career, showing works at the Academy of the Arts in Easton, Maryland, the Maryland Federation of Art, and the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C.
Virginia Ochs was included in the 2019 exhibition, Four Artists: Moving Through Abstraction, Annapolis 1950s to 1990s, mounted at the Maryland Hall for Creative Arts. A copy of the exhibition catalogue is included with the lot.
