1792 Edition "The Laws of the State of New-Hampshire" Published in Portsmouth, New Hampshire by John Melcher
1792-Dated Federal Period, Antique Leather Bound Book titled, "The Laws of the State of New Hampshire," Owner Signed "Noah Cooke 1793" (Keene, NH), Choice Very Fine.
The owner, Noah Cooke's house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. This historic original Book was Published in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, by John Melcher in 1792, this 5.5" by 8.75" leather bound book contains: "The Laws Of The State Of New-Hampshire, together with The Declaration Of Independence: the Definitive Treaty of Peace between the United States of America and His Britannic Majesty: the Constitution of New-Hampshire, and the Constitution of the United States, with its Proposed Amendments." Originally owned and Signed Twice by Noah Cooke there is a Handwritten, "List of Town Officers" on the inside back cover. All the pages are well printed and clean being tightly bound. Signed by owner a second time at its conclusion "Noah Cooke Owner."
The "Noah Cooke House" is a historic house on Daniels Hill Road in Keene, New Hampshire. The main block of the 2.5 story wood frame house was built in 1791, although it is connected to an ell of older construction. The interior of the house has well-preserved Georgian styling. Noah Cooke, its builder, was a prominent local lawyer. The house was originally located on Main Street, but was moved to its present rural setting in 1973. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
