Description
Scarce badge from the 1936 Chess Olympiad in Munich, a counterpart to the 1936 Summer Olympics, beginning one day after the end of the Berlin Olympics on August 17 and lasting until September 1st. The badge, 1 square in., depicts a 'knight' chess piece atop the Olympic rings, all above the label 'SCHACH-OLYMPIA MUNCHEN 1936'. Unmarked. Very good condition. Uniquely, many Jewish chess players took part, and the 'Jewish' teams of Hungary and Poland both beat 'Aryan' Germany in the event.
