Study for a Mural, gouache on illustration board, signed verso, possibly for the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Honolulu, built in 1927; depicting native women waiting to greet visitors on the beach, the distant sailing ship identifying them as European, ca. 1750, the eight women are in various degrees of undress, one is offering a large basket of fruit, in a carved frame that evokes native patterns, with red mat, under glass, OS: 11 1/4" x 16 1/4", SS: 7 3/4" x 12 3/4". Fine condition.
