Description
1616 FOLIO Saint Jerome BIBLE & Commentary Cologne Hierat Latin Psalms Messina
“When the stomach is full, it is easy to talk of fasting.”
– Jerome, Epistle 58
Saint Jerome was a 4th -century, early church father. While he was most known for his translation of the Bible, he also wrote a collection of letters which are now known his ‘Epistles.’ However, his Biblical commentary is still today his most desirable and popular work. These impressive tomes from the 1616 Antonii Hierat printing include portions of Jerome’s commentary on the books of Bible – Ecclesiastes, minor prophets, Gospels, Epistles of Paul, Job, Psalms, and Proverbs. Edition collected and edited by Marianus Victorius.
This work contains Francesco Messina’s commentary on Jerome, who noted the difficulty of Jerome.
