Description
Original antique advertising poster showing the cover of a 1898 issue of February Century, a monthly illustrated magazine. A drawing captioned Lieutenant Hobson in Morro Castle shows a smartly dressed man looking out of a small window. A box overlaid over the drawing contains a photograph of Major General William R. Shafter, taken by Hollinger, with the title February Century below. Text lists the articles featured in the issue - including On the Way to the North Pole by Lieutenant Richmond Pearson Hobson, Harnessing the Nile by Frederick C. Penfield and Alexander the Great’s Conquest of Asia. Printed by HA Thomas & Wylie Litho. Co., New York. Major General William Rufus Shafter served during the American Civil War, receiving the Medal of Honor, the USA’s highest military decoration, and he played a key role in the Spanish-American War.
