Description
This rare pair of George III period mahogany Chippendale chest on chest with broken arch pediments have dressing / brushing slides and come in 3-parts. These finely crafted chest on chest come in three parts having graduated drawers with swan neck pulls and terminating on the original Chippendale bracket feet. They have a fine pierced carved dentil molding on the removable pediments and the frieze of the upper sections. The upper sections have chamfered corners with carved reed molding terminating in lambÂ’s tongues. Both the upper and bottom chest have book match mahogany on the drawers.
Condition
Refinished. Replacements made: One chest has the pulls replaced to match the originals. Some holes have been plugged and finished over where some of the later pulls had been added. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses.
