George III Inlaid Amboyna Cylinder Writing Desk
Last quarter 18th century
The three-quarter galleried top above a pair of glazed doors and a cylinder front opening to a sliding panel with adjustable book rest and open shelf flanked by pigeonholes above drawers, the frieze fitted with a drawer and raised on tapering square legs. Height 50 1/2 inches (128.3 cm), width 24 1/2 inches (62.2 cm), depth 17 1/4 inches (43.8 cm).

Good condition, sunfading to front and right side, losses to line inlay, lacking shelves to upper section, lifiting to crossbanding veneers of cylinder front, warping to sides flanking cylinder top, line inlay of legs cut off (?) by spade feet, old marks and scratches; David Rockefeller provenance from client, not confirmed.
