Item Details
Description
***Please Note*** Purchase of this lot must be paid with certified funds or wire transfer and buyer's premium will be reduced to 15%.911 Porsche Provenance: A true garage find, built in Stuttgart, Germany. Same owner and garage kept for 40 years. In1980 Al Holbert dealership and his team took this for lease from Porsche. In about 1980 it was leased to the previous owner for approximately 1 year. Worth noting, the door and or hood were partially repainted, necessary to due parking to close to bushes at his home. There may be a chip of paint visible in the pictures on the driver’s side door. During 1981 the current owner leased the 911SC Targa from the Holbert owned dealership. He continued to lease the “911” for approximately 9 years when he purchased it out right. Porsche and the Holbert Team maintained and performed all modifications and service during this time period. It is registered with antique tags and has 67,529 original miles, but may increase if the owner takes it out for a Sunday drive. Some things worth noting are that this fine racer is an air cooled 911 and basically one of a kind. It shows very well. Please note all of the modifications performed by Holbert and the factory listed below, the original factory and dealer specifications and upgrades might have changed since the purchase, this is due to additional upgrades, some may be listed as components that were available. Some upgrades include: the red leather interior, a one of a kind alarm system (which a code has to entered to start the vehicle, this UNGO box alarm is coded with a number which you will be given at the time of purchase. As an added security feature there was a hidden kill switch installed for the fuel system.) BBS Wheels, 150 MPG speedo, lowered suspension, and a tail from a Porsche 930, just to mention a few. These security features were added in the 1980’s when these cars were highly targeted for theft. Upgrades that will not be included with the car are the mirror covers, blanket hood covers, sheepskin covers, floor mats, and others. Also the side door guards have been left in place and are visible in the pictures. There are a few areas that will need attention. The front and rear hood struts will need to be replaced. AC does not currently function but has not since the early years of the vehicle. Consigner never had AC checked because he always drove with the Targa top removed. The original antenna may not be functioning, there may be an aftermarket one present. Only wheels that remain with the car are the BBS racing wheels. All information has been provided in this provenance and description by the owner. It is accurate to the best of our and his knowledge based on our discussions with him. The Porsche is being sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. We believe this is a solid car and will be a good investment for the right buyer. Please feel free to ask any additional questions, that are important to you. Also feel free to contact us to preview this fine automobile with or without your mechanic. Holbert Provenance: Founded in 1954 by the legendary Holbert family. They started the Holbert Racing Garage, (Porsche Warrington), the second oldest Porsche Dealership in the United States and was a staple in the Bucks County, Pennsylvania community for decades. Al Holbert and his father Robert were US road racing legends and Porsche dealer pioneers. Holbert was the head of the Porsche North America's Motorsports Division and ran his own racing team, Holbert Racing. Alvah Robert "Al" Holbert was an American automobile racing driver who was a five-time champion of the Camel GT series. He once held the record with the most IMSA race wins at 49. In 1971, Holbert scored his first race win in a Porsche and would turn professional in 1974. He would score his first of his two IMSA titles in 1976 and 1977. He also added an IMSA GTP title during 1983. Also, in 1983, he won the Grand Prix of Miami. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1983, 1986, and 1987, the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1986 and 1987, and Holbert finished fourth in the 1984 Indianapolis 500. Holbert also raced 19 career races in NASCAR. In those 19 races, in which he drove primarily for James Hylton, Holbert scored 4 top ten finishes. Al was entered into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1993. You can also Google “Al and Robert Holbert” to learn more about this legendary racing family.
