Description
This monumental 19th Century Mahogany Ivy House Estate Irish breakfront/bookcase features four glass doors with Gothic arches and designs on each panel. The bottom sections are decorated with Chinese lattice framed doors. The doors are solid Cuban Mahogany with paneled backs.The paneled glass doors can be seen in the book, "The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale," on page 41 picture 64. The Chinese lattice framed doors can also be seen on page 41, picture 65. The piece has a label that states ‘Harvey Nichols & CO Depository, Bournemouth.’This bookcase was sold in the 1950's estate auction at the Ivy House in Dublin, which was one of the famous Guinness family properties.There have been restorations to the wings of this piece. Books not included.
Condition
Wear consistent with age and use.The Breakfront is in overall good condition with minor chips, scratches, and inperfections. There are two 3 inch pieces of trim molding that are missing on each side of the center bookcase where the wings join. See photos.
