Description
A Chinese blue-ground kesi vest dating from the early 19th century. There are parts of dragon roundels on the front and back panels over a wave and rock motif on the lower portion. The bottom has a woven tassel border.
Dimensions are: 33 inches tall X 29 inches wide, 83.8 cm X 73.7 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: There are holes and areas of damage and loss. Many tassels are missing or detached. There are also loose threads, creases, and separation.
Provenance: From a private Northern Virginia collection. Collected in the early 20th century by the current owner's grandparents during their time stationed in China working for Standard Oil.
