Description
A framed Chinese silk needlework panel of a lotus pond scene with cranes and bats dating from the Daoguang period. The panel has two inscriptions with three seals, as well as an archaic inscription with one seal. The embroidery features the forbidden stitch.
Dimensions are: 21 inches tall X 13 3/4 inches wide, 53.3 cm X 35 cm, while the frame measures 24 inches tall X 16 1/2 inches wide, 61 cm X 41.9 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The panel has fading, creasing, staining, and thread loss along with an area of repair. The frame has splitting along its seams.
Provenance: From a private collector in Southern California.
