Description
A Chinese bronze Bian Zhong bell dating from the Eastern Zhou or Spring and Autumn period with a hardwood stand. It has beast head relief on its stem and Taotie mask relief on its lower portion.
Dimensions are: 16 inches tall X 8 inches wide, 40.6 cm X 20.3 cm, while the stand measures 18 inches tall X 14 inches wide, 45.7 cm X 35.6 cm. Weight: 7750 grams including the stand. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The bell is attached to the stand, and the bottom has not been examined. The bell has age appropriate wear. The stand has a few chips and two areas of breakage.
Provenance: From an estate in Seattle, Washington.
