This is a very rare old Liberian Trumpet, of carved wood and embellished with woven textiles and cowrie shells as well as animal hide. The Trumpet measures 28 inches long and was previously in a very important ethnographic musical instrument / African Art collection. Provenance: Ex. Collection, Moses Ashe, Founder of Folkways records; Mr Ashe's Music instrument collection is part of the collection of African Musical instruments at the MET, NYC. **** This trumpet was field collected by A Tulke, in Liberia, C. 1940's
