Great Dealer Lot! 30 Vintage Native American Natural Stone and bone Bead Necklaces in varying styles and sizes. Heishe are small disc- or tube-shaped beads made of organic shells or ground and polished stones. Heishi jewelry is believed to be the oldest form of jewelry making in New Mexico, and perhaps in all of North America. The word heishi means "shell," although today the term is often used to reference small handmade beads made from many different natural materials. This lot includes a variety of beads hand-dug and strung from Kern County, California. The disk beads are raw, mostly matte and all natural, not polished or dyed. Includes many conus shells, in addition to disks. There is a mixture of styles and natural color patterns. A very nice variety of vintage, Native American, authentic stone and possibly bone heishi bead necklaces. Included are 2 red bead necklaces and two blue bead necklaces. Styles resemble simple Native American, although the absence of turquoise is unusual. One necklace in this lot is broken and 2-3 others are long enough that they do not incorporate clasps. Almost all necklace have barrel screw closures. This is a nice example of vintage, traditional, handmade, natural jewelry. There is HUGE profit potential here for retailers.
