A Large Villeroy & Boch Ceramic Ewer, late 19th-early 20th century Marks: (abbey), METTLACH VB, GEGEN NACHBILDUNG, GESCHÜTZT, 1568, 97, 9 27 x 10 x 8-3/4 inches (68.6 x 25.4 x 22.2 cm) The ewer featuring portrait cartouches of Hans Makart, Richard Wagner, and Johannes Schilling, and bearing Kunst ohne Gunst ist UMSUNST inscribed at neck.

Evidence of repair at spout interior and stem at knop, while otherwise free from losses. Small areas of discoloration to glaze at two cartouches.
