Description
A fine English sterling silver kettle on stand having a lion mask adorned swing handle over a body with foliate finial and repousse design, and duck-form spout. The base with pierced foliate and shell adorned apron, raised on mask mounted cabriole legs ending in acanthus leaf feet. Both burner and kettle with illegible maker's hallmark, and with 1751 date mark. Monogrammed. 11-1/2in tall to finial. 10in wide. Approx. 81.3 ozt. Provenance: From the collection of a direct descendant of Thomas Alexander Scott (Pennsylvania, 1823-1881).
Condition
Some denting and wear. Loss of wicker on handle.
