Description
Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. An elegant ensemble of 23 glass and 24 carnelian beads, all strung on a modern strand with a brass toggle clasp to be wearable. Beautifully arranged in an alternating pattern, these gorgeous beads gradually increase in size towards the center of the strand. The majority of the beads display spherical or barrel forms, except for 1 ellipsoid bead on each end. A lovely dotted design of target-motifs decorates the surface of the glass beads, which boast hues of powder blue, navy, cobalt, and white. Conversely, the carnelian beads present tones of salmon pink, coral, apricot, burgundy, and cream. A stunning adornment, replete with the timeless splendor of the ancient Roman Empire! Size (necklace): 19.375" L (49.2 cm); Size (largest bead): 0.875" L x 0.625" W (2.2 cm x 1.6 cm)
