Description
U.S. So-Called Dollar. 1939 New York World's Fair Gold Lincoln Dollar (HK-493, R-6). NGC MS65. Here is an assertive, smooth, rich golden Gem. Hibler-Kappen indicates that only 100 such pieces were struck, and its R-6 designation corresponds to there being 21-75 examples known as of its 2008 publication date. These Thomas Elder Lincoln Dollars were struck in various metals and with at least two different finishes by the Medallic Art Company expressly for distribution at the Fair. NGC has graded only two specimens higher than the coin offered here (one MS66 and one MS67). Est. $575.
