Description
German States, Nurnberg. (1717) 1/2 taler coin or possibly a medal of 1/2 taler weight (unlisted in KM). The date is actually highlighted in Roman numerals within the reverse legend. Struck for the 200th Anniversary of the Reformation. The obverse design features a symbolic light (candle) being allowed to shine whilst a bushel is lifted from over it. PCGS AU55 and certainly deserving of the designated grade. Sharp definition is embellished by overlying, wholly natural lilac-grey toning. Only two such pieces have been graded by PCGS, both of which are at the AU55 grade level. Scarce, especially so this nice, and quite historic. Est. $850.
