They are simple outline etchings shaded with roulette. The colouring is of a rare delicacy and fidelity to nature. (Nissen p. 137). - Few plates with backed loss in the margin, plate 291 trimmed and backed at margin. Binding related marginal tears. Unobtrusive annotations and alternative plates numbering in pencil in the white margin. Occasionally with blindstamps.
