LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY MEISSEN FIGURAL PORCELAIN SWEETMEAT DISHES
the trays modelled to show a seated woman and man, each in 18th Century clothing holding the sweetmeat dish, the dish with a gilt rim with a bouquet of wildflowers and insects on the interior, the exterior with a relief detail of painted wild flowers, atop a rocaille and gilt detailed base, each with factory mark in blue underglaze, with numerals 2858 and 51 incised in paste, 46 in green underglaze all under base; height: 17 cm (6 3/4 in.), length of tray: 23 cm (9 in.), dimensions of dish: 21 (l) x 14 cm (8 1/4 x 5 1/2 in.)
CONDITION
The pair appears in age-appropriate condition. Overall surface dust visible to the naked eye, most notably to the interior of the tray. Scattered firing imperfections, most notably to the interior of the gentleman's dish. Very minor rubbing to the glit detailing to each of the dish's rims. Inspection under UV shows no apparent sign of restoration.
