Description
A white, thinly potted porcelain bowl with colorful and delicate painting of a peony, prunus and a black bird. This is a very typical design from the Late Qing/early Republic Period of the 1910s and 1920s.
The thinly potted porcelain bowl with a raised unglazed foot that has a glazed base. The designs are painted with greens, rose, iron red over glaze enamels, with black for the bird and outlines. Mouth is gilded and a double iron red line above the foot. There is a stamped iron red Qianlong reign mark on the base.
MEASUREMENTS
4 7/8” (12.4 cm) diameter x 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) tall. Weighs 5.8 oz (165 g)
CONDITION
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There is wear to the gilding along the edge. There are two green enamel drops on the inside of the bowl near the edge, and there is slight wear inside the bowl. The enamels on the outside are fresh and bright.
