Around them are decorated with grotesques, with borders of plant forms, floral, horns of plenty and other elements.The grotesque is a whimsical and complex Renaissance ornament that represents fantastic beings with human or animal appearance, accompanied by fronds, candelieri and intertwined, forming a variegated ornamental whole. It imitates the mural paintings that were found in Rome during the Renaissance when the so-called grotte ('grottoes'), vaulted rooms in the ruins of Nero's Domus Aurea, in the baths of Titus and Livia and in Hadrian's Villa, were unearthed.
