Description
Title: Vue de Philadelphia
Author: **
Description: Hand-colored lithograph(?). 25x35 cm. (9¾x13½"), in old wooden frame under glass.View of 18th century Philadelphia. Typed information on the back of the frame, dating from 1959, compares this print to an engraving by Jefferys of the city from the Jersey shore, "it shows the same tall steeple of Christ's Church as shown in this print, and the identical windmill..." It also notes that "Miss Shepard, curator of prints at the National Gallery of Art, says this is a lithograph with water colors applied by hand," but it also had the look of a Baxter Oil Print to some degree. An intriguing and captivating view.
