SIZE IN INCHES:12.5 x 10.25 inches
COMMENTS: A wonderful genre scene showing people taking the evening cool and celebrating Toro Nagashi on the banks of (presumably) the Sumida River in Edo. In summer, river lantern festivals (toro nagashi) are held all around Japan to commemorate the departed and pray for peace. A toro is a traditional Japanese outdoor candle-lit lantern.
