This is an original watercolor, painted in the manner of the incomparable and most renowned modern artist in history, Pablo Picasso. It is hand signed and not a giclee or any other reproduction. It is beautifully matted and framed to accent the piece. We base this attribution on the same medium, style, subject, complexity, and signature as used by Picasso . Medium: Watercolor on paper. Condition: Excellent. Edition: Unique original work of art. Signature: Upper left. Size: 8 x 11 1/2 in. Frame: 15 x 18 in. In 1900 Picasso moved to Paris. This marked the beginning of his Blue Period, 1904-1906, which began with the suicide of his friend, Carlos Casagemas. The Rose Period followed, which highlighted a lightening of Picasso’s mood that was reflected in his work. When Picasso and painter Georges Braque, began to paint objects in terms of their most basic shapes, it inspired some of Picasso’s most paradigm shifting work. During the twentieth century Picasso’s Cubist work changed the way art was viewed and created. Throughout his life, he also worked in an array of printing techniques, such as lithography and etching and became a skilled printmaker. In 2015, his painting Women of Algiers sold at Christie’s for $179.3 million, the highest price ever paid for a painting at that time. Congratulations to the winning bidder on this masterful piece of artwork! Provenance: Private fine art collector of modern & contemporary artwork.
