Title: Signed Inscribed Antique Chinese Snuff Bottle
Description: This is a stunning antique snuff bottle! It is glass and reverse painted with carved red koi on either side of the bottle. On one side of the bottle is a portrait of a woman, who may be the Empress Dowager Cixi, the last empress of the Qing dynasty; there is a portrait of the empress dowager which looks very similar which was painted by a court painter. The bottle has a raised stamp and a reverse painted inscription. On the other side of the bottle is a poem about spring. The lid has a vivid blue cabochon glass piece.

Provenance: This 3 piece Chinese estate lot is from a Manhattan retiree. The family said their relatives shopped at Upper East Side antiques venues including Sotheby’s. They also said some of the artist and subject names associated with those 3 snuff bottles selling individually are The Xian Feng Emperor’s wife, the famed Empress Dowager Cixi and Mo Shao Xuan of Queen Xiao Zhen. An inventory number associated with one or more of the 3 items was 3741R. Please note that we do not know which names are or may be associated with which bottle or bottles, if at all. Family names not made available.
