Three Part Framed Letter by William S. Hart. Handwritten letter dated February 17th 1936 and addressed to an acquaintance discussing his career and retirement among other things. Beautifully framed with a photo, plaque and original envelope in the base frame. The four sided letter (in two frames) on Hart's personal letter head hangs from hooks on either side of the base frame. A nice example of Golden Age of Hollywood and Americana memorabilia. Base frame is 38 1/2"w. and 21"w. Side frames are 13 3/4"h. and 11"w.William S. Hart was an early silent screen actor and cowboy who often portrayed the hero. His career spanned three decades and upon his death, he donated his estate to the city of Los Angeles on the condition that a park be built, which still stands today. The letter is written to: Journalist Edward S. Hipps of the Newark, New Jersey "Sunday Call:", who had just written a lengthy favorable article about Hart. He sends thanks and further discusses his life in retirement, his motion pictures and his career, as well as reactions to the article; interesting and autobiographical. Written at his Horseshoe Ranch, Newhall, California, 17 February 1936.
