Duncan Grant (British, 1885-1978). Charcoal and gouache on paper titled "Hercules and Diomedes" depicting a white and black man, symbolizing Hercules and Diomedes, wrestling or copulating. A photograph of Vincenzo de' Rossi's sculpture "The Labours of Hercules" in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy is affixed to the backing board showing the obvious influence this sculpture had over Duncan Grant's work. Unframed; height: 19 1/2 in x width: 12 5/8 in. Matted; height: 28 in x width: 26 in.
