John James Audubon (American, 1785-1851). Color lithograph on paper titled "Red Bellied Woodpecker," depicting a pair of red bellied woodpeckers feeding on a branch. Inscribed "No. 54" in the plate along the upper left; "Pl. 270" along the upper right; and "Lewis' Woodpecker, 1. Male 2. Female. Drawn from Nature by J.J. Audubon, FRSFLS. Lith'd Printed & Col'd by J.T. Bowen, Phila." along the lower section of the plate. A gallery label from Park on Blake, Denver, Colorado, is affixed to the frame verso. Provenance: Distinguished corporate collection, Minnesota. Sight; height: 9 1/2 in x width: 5 1/2 in. Framed; height: 20 1/2 in x width: 15 1/2 in.
